{"id":474,"date":"2024-10-31T12:31:00","date_gmt":"2024-10-31T16:31:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wintermoonreview.com\/blog\/?p=474"},"modified":"2024-11-05T09:38:49","modified_gmt":"2024-11-05T14:38:49","slug":"banish-and-begin-a-tarot-reading-for-halloween","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wintermoonreview.com\/blog\/2024\/10\/31\/banish-and-begin-a-tarot-reading-for-halloween\/","title":{"rendered":"Banish and Begin ~ a tarot reading for Halloween"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"\">It\u2019s October 31<sup>st<\/sup>, so of course, it\u2019s time to do a tarot reading for Halloween! I have several tarot decks that are excellent for Halloween, or Samhain, but today I decided to go with the older <em>Halloween Tarot<\/em> by Karin Lee and Kipling West. I\u2019ve had this one seemingly forever, and though it\u2019s cute and colorful, it is perfectly suitable for deeper issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Banish and begin<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Halloween \u2013 or really, Samhain \u2013 is often a time for banishing what is old or no longer of use, or even harmful, and it is also a time of new beginnings and transformation. On this note, I chose three cards to represent what I need to retire or banish from my life, and three to represent what I need to renew or begin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The cards I drew:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Ten of Imps<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">XIII Death<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">King of Pumpkins<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Three of Ghosts<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Six of Ghosts<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">XI Justice<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">To banish<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Ten of Imps. First, know that in the <em>Halloween Tarot<\/em>, the suit of Imps is aligned with the traditional suit of Wands. It\u2019s a bit obvious what this card means, isn\u2019t it? The character in the card has his arms full and struggles to hold onto everything. The Ten of Imps points to being overburdened. This one is easy! I think if I had to choose three words to describe my life in recent months, &#8220;overburdened&#8221; would be one! There have been definite times of overwhelm, and exhaustion. I could very gladly banish being overburdened.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">XIII Death. Ah, well, this one is interesting. Death\u2026 change, transformation, it in itself can represent renewal in a way. I could even just look at this literally, and say hmmm, perhaps I need to move on from <em>thoughts<\/em> of death? Loss and grief have been big energies in my life in the past few years, as recently as this past summer; I am still grieving. Could it be that simple? Move on a bit from the mourning. But considering the card in its more symbolic meaning, am I trying to change too much? Am I seeking transformation on a more visceral level than is necessary, or good? Change comes, change is necessary and important, but have I been forcing the issue? One to think about some more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">King of Pumpkins. In the <em>Halloween Tarot<\/em> the suit of Pumpkins stands for the traditional suit of Pentacles. The King therefore is successful, resourceful, pragmatic, and generally more connected to the material. It is possible I have been too engrossed in worry about finances and future plans. These concerns stress me out regularly, and wake me up in the middle of the night. Am I too focused on the domain of the King of Pumpkins?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">I think there is a trend here, of taking on too much, and focusing on worries that cause me to take on too much. I have been looking for big change \u2013 this isn\u2019t change that has already happened naturally, but an expectation I have had of myself, and of my life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">And begin<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Three of Ghosts. The suit of Ghosts in the <em>Halloween Tarot<\/em> lines up with the traditional suit of Cups. Ah, this is a bit better. Besides simply promising \u201cgood things to come,\u201d this card is a great reflection of togetherness and comfort. Friends, family, love. Renew friendships \u2013 or simply, renew friendship. It is very obvious to me that more of this kind of positivity is needed in my life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Six of Ghosts. Another Ghosts card, another Cups symbol. Interestingly, I often assume I am thinking too much about the past, but this card encourages a \u201csentimental walk down Memory Lane.\u201d It indicates a discovery about the past, or meeting up with a childhood acquaintance. To these latter, we shall see, but I will be open to more positive and uplifting remembrances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">XI Justice. Another major card, which is interesting, for such a short, impromptu reading. I rarely draw Justice in my readings. Beyond the more basic call for justice \u2013 personal justice here, the <em>Halloween Tarot<\/em> describes it this way, \u201cAchieve balance through elimination of excess baggage, ill-conceived ideas, and misdirected efforts.\u201d Now, that makes sense, and it meshes very well with the previous cards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">This was one of those readings where the cards really do come together very effectively, and the message is rather clear. Of course, it deserves further contemplation, and of course, taking heed of what we intuit in our readings is the real work and allows the real growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">I am feeling more than exhausted (emotionally and physically) from this summer and from all the recent developments, but this reading does contribute to my hope for the coming months and year ahead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Halloween Tarot<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">If you&#8217;d like to learn more, read user reviews or purchase the <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/4f337Sj\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Halloween Tarot Deck and Book Set<\/a> at Amazon (I receive a small commission for any purchase completed through my link).
