I often point out that the Witches Moon Box fits uncannily well into my life. Certainly, each month’s box always seems so timely. And it couldn’t be truer than with the Witches Moon Box for September 2026. Their description of the autumnal equinox, and of their offering for the month, describes my own current experience perfectly. After reading their introduction, I knew it would be a special collection.

The Exclusive Magick of Mabon Collection

The Witches Moon says of this month’s box, “The Autumnal Equinox has always had a special place in our hearts! To be placed in the balance of light and dark, we are able to view our inner and outer landscape from a new vantage point. From here, we delight in reflection, both painful and joyous. We celebrate the harvest with the people we love and bask in our accomplishments, even the small ones, that we have reached, as well as the hard-earned lessons and grains of wisdom found within. We gaze out into the unclaimed future, holding on to the pulsing hope that beauty will continue to unfold in our lives, and in the lives of those that surround us.”

The Witches Moon Exclusive Harvest Guardian Effigy

Harvest Guardian Effigy

One of the first works of magic, or rituals, I ever did as a young girl was creating by hand a simple poppet. I don’t recall the exact source that led me to the activity. But I immersed myself in it, and it really did set me on this still lifelong path. And earlier in my Witches Moon Subscription I received another similar guardian figure, that still resides above my desk, where I see it daily.

So, I am partial to these figures, and I respect and embrace their long-standing tradition across cultures. Witches Moon says this guardian was a passion project, and represents “stewardship, protecting and nurturing your home, creative workings, boundaries” and more. This guardian, cloaked all in black and adorned with a red sash as well as a raven skull symbol, aligns with the energy and purpose of Mabon. She can stand over what is sacred in your life and serve as a reminder to protect and nurture your personal world. Mine has already found a spot near my other, but it is a space of her own.

Book of Shadows Artwork

Book of Shadows original artwork by A.E. Alden

Every month, the Witches Moon includes gorgeously illustrated artwork intended for inclusion in Books of Shadows, that are also suitable for framing or placing upon personal altars. The artwork is original, and created by A.E. Alden. The Book of Shadows Artwork is one of my favorite things about the Witches Moon Box.

For September, these pieces include Guardian Effigy, Spirits of Mabon, and Symbols of Mabon, and they suit the items in the box perfectly. These pieces expand on the information included with the endearing Harvest Guardian Effigy, and provide useful correspondences and insights for celebrating the autumnal equinox.

Personalized Oracle Reading

There’s a single card included from a specific tarot or oracle deck included in each month’s Witches Moon Box. This month it’s a card from the Medicine Heart Oracle Deck, pocket edition, by Alana Fairchild and Sophie Wilkins. It can be seen in the main image above. The Witches Moon calls these personalized oracle readings, because they are meant to reflect what each of us is going through. This month, my card is 39 from the deck, referred to as “Crested Crane Marks the Centre.” Like the Witches Moon Box for September itself, this card really describes feelings I have been experiencing…

“Your soul is entering the centre of the mandala, encountering infinite possibilities. This is the wild place where excitement, chaos and creative freedom abide. Here is where new potentials and opportunities arise as if out of nowhere. It is the realm of magic and synchronicity. Things may seem to be falling apart, but in a more meaningful and true way, they are really falling into place.” – Alana Fairchild, Medicine Heart Oracle Deck

Supplies for ritual or self-care

Ritual supplies for the Witches Moon Box ~ September 2026

Ritual is such a big part of pagan and modern witch spiritual practice. The Witches Moon provides supplies each month that generally include a spell candle, anointing oil, crystal, incense, and small packets of herbs and blends.

The name of this month’s candle is “Vow of Renewal.” It is hand-rolled, made of beeswax, and anointed with essential oils of sage, orange, frankincense, and a few drops of their Mabon blend. Included with the candle is a Sigil, to be used alongside ritual or tucked into a Book of Shadows.

Tumbled red jasper crystal

The anointing oil is called Merry Mabon, consisting of clove, cinnamon, orange, and ginger. A tumbled red jasper crystal is included, meant to bring a sense of security and strength, as well as free-flowing creativity. There are also small packets of Annatto Seed Powder, a Woodland Watcher Herbal Blend, and Autumn Alchemy Herbal Blend. A single sheet of parchment paper is included for jotting notes or inspiration, or for recording ritual work.

All of these items work synergistically, designed to complement all of the other items in the box.
