When I was starting out on a pagan (or more specifically, witch) path many, many years ago, I learned that it was useful to have a small cauldron for spiritual workings or ritual. Back then it was kind of difficult to find a cauldron, especially one small enough for a private little altar. My husband actually found something for me, a small three-legged iron pot with a long handle. It worked rather well, and I have used it since. In the Witches Moon Box for August, we have been provided a charming cauldron, to serve a new relationship with the goddess Cerridwen.

Cerridwen: Celtic Goddess of Inspiration
The featured item in this month’s Witches Moon Box is the book, Cerridwen: Celtic Goddess of Inspiration, by Kristoffer Hughes. The Witches Moon describes this book as “the most quintessential book on Cerridwen,” and I can see why. The book is a deeper dive into the history of Cerridwen in Wales and how she has gained a respected status of deity for many. Background tales capture the reader, and useful practices or rituals are provided for hands-on experiences. Beyond Cerridwen, Hughes discusses broader involvement with deity and spiritual practice and offers engaging insights on Wales and Welsh traditions. It’s a fantastic and appreciated feature of the Witches Moon Box for August.
The Witches Moon always packs their boxes beautifully. Cerridwen: Celtic Goddess of Inspiration came wrapped in plain brown paper and tied with a green satin ribbon.
Cast Iron Cauldron
I love this little cauldron the Witches Moon has included in this month’s box. The cauldron is a perfect accompaniment to Cerridwen: Celtic Goddess of Inspiration, as there are a number of practices described in the book that involve the use of a cauldron. This cauldron is intended as a representation of the Cauldron of Cerridwen. The Witches Moon suggests keeping it dedicated to Cerridwen.
Book of Shadows Artwork
Original Book of Shadows artwork created by A.E. Alden is included in every Witches Moon Box, and this month’s three selections are: Cerridwen, Awen, and the Cauldron of Cerridwen. These are beautifully illustrated pieces intended for Book of Shadows (of course) or altar placement, and could be enjoyed framed or set anywhere you’d like to refer to them for inspiration and information. They include background information and correspondences for ritual work.
Personalized Oracle Reading
A single card from Soulful Woman Guidance Cards by Shushann Movsessian and Gemma Summers is included in August’s box, and meant to resonate with something worth exploring in the coming month. The card I received hits a little too close to home, honestly, as I’m currently dealing with some health issues and feel like I’ve already been listening to my body too much lately!
Ritual supplies
The Witches Moon Box is always well-equipped with items intended for ritual work, spiritual practice, or simply for self-care if you prefer. This month these include a Hand-Rolled & Anointed “Breath of Awen” Beeswax Spell Candle with accompanying sigil, a Cerridwen Magickal Anointing Oil, a Tumbled African Jade Crystal, and Handmade & Natural Blue Sage Cone Incense. Also included are packets of Awen Ritual Herbal Tea w/ Muslin Bag – a blend of nine botanicals, including Tulsi, Licorice, Calendula, Yerba Santa, Turmeric, Mullein, Marshmallow, and Elecampane Root; as well as individual packets of the single herbs Mugwort, and Wormwood.
