Ever so magical, Yule is my favorite holiday. Living in a cold, snowy, northern clime, this love of the holiday could be greatly influenced by the fact I’m just in great need of light, warmth, and a return of radiance! Receiving the Witches Moon Box for December this year was a lovely gift. It is a special celebration of rebirth and a finding of new strength.
As always, the Witches Moon arrived early in the month, giving plenty of time to delve into its contents and benefit from its intentions.
The Exclusive Elen of the Ways Collection
The December Witches Moon Box is called Wand of Ways – the Exclusive Elen of the Ways Collection. The Witches Moon introduces it thusly:
“Amidst the giant whispering trees and dappled sunlight of the ancient frosty forest, the weary seeker treads gently, their hearts conflicted and heavy. Regardless of the challenge, they stand by their bold decision to venture into the darkness of the unknown, searching for a glimpse of peace and truth. As dusk began weaving throughout the forest floor, a clearing emerged, bathed in ethereal luminescence. Standing with her lantern and staff, was Elen of the Ways, gleaming with grace and eternal strength. With eyes like twin moons, she gazed upon the tired traveler, extended her hand, and promised guidance. An unspoken vow had taken place. As the traveler let go of her hand, they found a beautiful wand placed in their own. The Wand of Ways. A symbol of hope and power…”
The Wand of Ways ~ Handcrafted with Amber & Quartz Crystal
Nestled in a terrific custom storage box of padded deep green satin, is the feature item of this month’s collection: the Wand of Ways. This wand was created exclusively for the Witches Moon, and can be used in real ritual, or simply as a symbolic item meant to inspire. The wand was crafted by hand, “meticulously sculpted by the human touch.”
The Wand of Ways was inspired by Elen of the Ways, who the Witches Moon describes as “one of the most captivating” figures in Celtic mythology. They add, “During this winter season, the natural landscape urges us to find shelter, to find warmth, and to find purpose in the great cycle of life.” Encouragement is offered to find comfort in reflection and plan for a transformative future. They also offer guidance for using the wand and for visualization exercises.
Book of Shadows Artwork
Every Witches Moon Box includes several pieces of original artwork by A.E. Alden. These are beautifully illustrated pieces that are intended to go in one’s Book of Shadows but can just as easily be kept in any protective folder or displayed in frames. The Elen of the Ways accompanies the Wand of Ways and includes a brief history and description. The Reindeer artwork is charming and provides a list of correspondences for the reindeer and incorporating it into personal work. And lastly, A Call to Elen of the Ways, written by G. Ibis, is a “call” or invocation, meant to be combined with small altar offerings.
Ritual Supplies
This month’s ritual supplies include the Hand-Rolled & Anointed Guided Pathway Beeswax Spell Candle. This candle was created for “the purpose of shining a light onto the path ahead.” The Woodland Winter Yuletide Aura Spray is a room spray blend of Pine, Cedar, Clove, Frankincense, Fir, Thyme, Juniper, Bay, and Basil. The Winter’s Rest Artisan Sacred Salt is a hand-blended mixture created to calm. All of these smell wonderful and perfectly suited to the season.
Three herbal packets are also included. These are the Wreath of Wisdom Ritual Herbal Blend, Healing of the Way Ritual Herbal Blend, and the Golden Stag Spice Ritual Herbal Tea w/ Muslin Bag. And, as many people can’t imagine ritual or even meditative work without incense, a packet of Forest Floors Ritual Incense Sticks is an important addition.
Personalized Oracle Reading
Each month the Witches Moon includes a single card from a divination or oracle deck. This month the selected deck is the truly beautiful Wisdom of Hafiz Oracle Deck by Daniel Ladinsky, Silas Toball, and Angi Sullins. The card I personally received in my box was card 41 – Transformation.
